WORKSHOP: Positioning Your Practice: Grants, Applications, and the Art World.

Gain the tools you need to grow your artistic career with confidence. In this workshop, participants will learn how to identify relevant grant and funding opportunities, position themselves within the contemporary art landscape, and craft strong, competitive applications that support their creative advancement.

This session will be led by Maximiliano Battaglia, an Uruguayan-Italian filmmaker, photographer, and educator working across documentary and experimental practices. Based between Paris, Montevideo, and Phnom Penh, Battaglia brings a global perspective shaped by his MFA in Photography and Image-making from the Paris College of Art and a BA in Mandarin Chinese from Beijing Language and Culture University. His work has been presented internationally across film festivals and exhibitions in Europe, North America, and Asia.

In addition to his individual practice, he co-founded the artist collective Abrazo de Gol with Gaby David—recipients of the 2024 research-creation grant from the Institut pour la photographie Hauts-de-France—and the film collective TRACHEA alongside Helena Ernst and Ponita Keo.
