Join Artist Rebel Betty Free Art Workshop

Saturday, June 6, 2026

Offered in connection with the exhibition Diasporic Collage: Puerto Rico and the Survival of a People, Collage for Liberation invites participants to explore themes of Puerto Rican identity, migration, resistance, and liberation through mixed media collage. Led by Chicago Puerto Rican artist, educator, and community organizer Rebel Betty, this hands-on workshop creates space to connect more deeply with the exhibition and the stories it holds.

Together, participants will look closely at works featured in the exhibition, including the photography of Frank Espada, while learning basic collage techniques, design elements, and visual storytelling practices. Through cutting, layering, and assembling images and materials, participants will create their own collages inspired by personal memory, culture, and collective experience.

Open to all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult.
