“Abuela’s House” Opening + Artist Talk

Join us for the opening of our new exhibition, “Abuela’s House” by Destyni Desi Swoope

You’re invited to experience Abuela’s House—a heartfelt celebration of identity, heritage, and love. This exhibition is a tribute to the enduring influence of Destyni “Desi” Swoope’s maternal great-grandmother and the profound connection between generations. Through 17 unique scenes, Desi blends paint, found objects, and eclectic fabrics to tell the story of abuela—a figure who embodies history, wisdom, and cultural preservation.

The exhibition, curated by Zee Lopez Del Carmen, transports visitors into an intimate, vibrant world where the colors of life are deeply rooted in the traditions of our ancestors. Each piece invites reflection on the powerful role abuela plays in bridging the past, present, and future, and how, through time, wisdom, and love, we are empowered to flourish in our own ways.
