The Latina/o Studies Program and the Kaplan Institute for the Humanities at Northwestern University present: ARTIST IN RESIDENCE EXHIBITION OF NEW WORK ANTONIO MARTORELL.

Antonio Martorell, born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1939, lives and works in La Playa de Ponce. He keeps busy at painting, drawing, installation and performance art, graphics, set and costume design, theatre, film, TV, radio and writing for the press. Author of two books, Martorell has exhibited and been awarded prizes around the world. Martorell’s artwork is found in the collections of the Whitney, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museo de Arte de Ponce, Instituto de Cultura Puertorriquñea in San Juan, the University of Puerto Rico Museum, and most recently, the Smithsonian.

 Kaplan Institute Artist in Residence Program. The Artist in Residence Program brings innovative artists working in diverse media to campus for quarter-long residencies to facilitate the production of new work, give the Northwestern community insight into the process of production, and recognize the importance of the fine arts to the humanities. Spring 2012 AIR Antonio Martorell is co-presented by the Latina/o Studies Program.
